Exploring the Wonders of the World | Encouraging Curiosity, Discovery, and Hands-On Learning
Subjects:

I teach science through hands-on lessons that engage students in active learning, allowing them to explore and experiment with scientific concepts in a meaningful way. I also help students build both their content knowledge and literacy skills simultaneously by integrating science and social studies standards with reading standards. For example, we will study topics that we are reading about in ELA. This integration is important because it allows students to make connections between different subjects, deepening their understanding and fostering a more cohesive learning experience. Additionally, I align science and social studies lessons with state standards to ensure that students are meeting academic goals while learning about the world around them. I also plan lessons around holidays and national celebrations, providing real-life learning opportunities that connect students with current events and cultural contexts. This approach not only makes learning more relevant but also encourages students to see the connections between their classroom studies and the world outside.
